Care Team
“Bear one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2
The Calvary Care Team, a lay ministry in partnership with our clergy, provides pastoral care to those with ongoing concerns and needs. We HELP where we can—provide meals; drive folks to medical appointments; respite visit for a caregiver; visit shut-ins, the elderly and recovering. We LIFT UP with our Card Ministry, home Communion, conduct Healing Services and a Blue Christmas Service. We LISTEN with confidentiality to support, encourage and pray for those experiencing grief, divorce, terminal and chronic illnesses, loneliness and discouragement, aging and other ongoing issues.
It’s about loving people like Jesus loves. It’s about recognizing that every person in your church is on a journey and that sometimes they need a little extra support along the way.
The extra support we give looks like:
· Sending out get well, sympathy, thinking of you and Birthday Cards.
· Phone calls and prayers for those who are homebound or ill.
· Bereavement volunteers at Memorial Services.
· Take meals to those who are sick or have had surgeries.
· Drive people to Dr. appointments.
· Knit prayer shawls to take to those who are ill.
· Mail out Grief booklets quarterly to those who have lost a loved one.
· Conduct an 8-week grief workshop – “Walking the Mourners Path.”
· Put up an Angel Tree at Christmas for Parishioners to remember loved ones.
· Hold healing services of comfort and hope.
Do you need to put someone on the church prayer list? Please note the pew cards that have Welcome on the front and Prayer on the other side. Just complete it and drop it into the offering plate. There will be an extra stack of just prayer cards in the back.
