Calvary House Rebuild
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35
We focused the Calvary Action Team efforts and our partnership with Friends of North Richmond
this year on rebuilding the Taylor house on 715 Maiden Ln in North Richmond.
This small two
bedroom home where nine people lived was devastated by Harvey. Calvary responded by raising just
over $30,000 and utilizing over 2,800 volunteer-hours to not just rebuild their home, but also help
restart their lives. God was definitely at work in this project - every time something was needed, he
provided. Leadership and skilled volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, Electrical and HVAC from
James Hippler Electric, Plumbing from All Star Plumbing (Carlos Salinas), Landscaping and
driveway from Greenmark Environmental (Harrie and Angela Cooley), drywall by a group of
volunteers from First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, windows and Hardie plank from a resident whose
house was flooded on the Brazos three times, and Calvary volunteers who showed up with just the
right skills at just the right time.
It was a blessing not just for the Taylor family but for Calvary to
witness and testify to as well.
