Calvary Youth Participate in Missionpalooza 2012
Youth from Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond participated in Missionpalooza, a 5 day mission trip to Bastrop County. The youth worked on a variety of projects: painting, removing debris and brush from around homes, building sheds, digging trenches for pipes, and painting house signs. Groups also worked in Bastrop State Park. Mid-week they took a break and went tubing in San Marcos. The Missionpalooza group consisted of 160 youth and adults and stayed at Smithville Junior High School as part of Faith Village- “a joint effort of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, the United Methodist Church, Southwest Texas Conference and the Presbyterian Church USA, Mission Presbytery.” Faith Village “provides temporary housing and support for faith-based volunteer groups who are undertaking long-term recovery projects in Bastrop County building houses and restoring devastated habitat” to the area where more than 1,600 homes were burned Labor Day weekend 2011.
